Unit is offering a $400 voucher to anyone with information leading to the location of a stolen Unit sign.
The sign was stolen from the Gold Coast Junior Motorcycle Club late last week. The thieves would have been armed with ladders, tools and a van to take down the 5 x 1.5m steel sign that was attached with 30 screws and liquid nails on top of the building.
It's a low blow to the Gold Coast's only motorcycle club which does its best to promote the sport by attracting sponsors.

We are absolutely pumped for the final round of Super X this weekend, and with 2 Unit team riders in the top 4 for the series as well as the 2 Americans coming over, this rounds racing should be off the hook!
Last round Tye Simmonds amazed everyone, after sustaining an injured knee during a man on man heat, he came out in the final against medics advice and battled hard every race, ending up with a 2nd overall for the round behind Reed. Tye was pumped after receiving his best result of the series and we are sure he will be heading into Brisbane full of confidence.
Daniel Reardon also had a good round, and shook some of the weight off his shoulders after a disappointing round the week before, which saw him give up the series lead. Reardon is a hole shot specialists, and with a bit of luck, will have no problem sticking it to the big guys all the way to the finish line.
Brisbane Super X is on this Saturday, and can be seen live on Fox Sports 3 @ 6.30pm

Our boy Jaie Toohey has been slowly adding to his list of tattoos. They are looking good to, he must have hardened up since we saw him nearly faint while under the needle at Beenleigh Ink with Richo! hahaha
Unit rider Kain Saul just flipped a Harley Davidson XR1200 to Dirt!!! He is the first person in the world to flip any kind of Harley to dirt. On ya Sauly! hahaha
If for some reason your not already in Prague to see the Gladiator Games, don't neck yourself just yet, you can watch it live RIGHT HERE!! Even if it will be in the middle of the night....

Finally, a truthful and unbiased look at the Aussie FMX scene has been put to words by Goba Obrien up on EXPN. Read on....
I pulled my head out of the sand the other day. It's been stuck in there for about a month, — well it has when it comes to knowing what's happening with FMX Down Under. I've had plenty of other things pop up to distract me from the world of freestyle, but hey that's life, 'C'est la vie' as they say in French. It's surprising how fast you can drop off the radar to what's going on.
This time last year Kain Saul and Levi Sherwood were fighting for the Australian FMX championships and looking at this year's series there's no freestyle in sight. This got me thinking ... What's going on with FMX this side of the globe? Where are all the comps? I pulled out my address book and dialed a few numbers to get back up to speed.....

G'day guys
Well last month has been crazy i have been super busy riding as much as i can and its been a blast.
Starting at halloween Dean Manson and i made the trip to sydney for the tempered bikes jam at dullwich hill skate park which was rad but even more rad was catching up with my mate Ando and heading out and riding his and Biffo's spot, I haven't ridden trails in a while so this was bloody awesome, Even with a hangover bigger than the halloween party we were at the night before.
The weekend after i found myself in Yarrawonga for my mate Brett's trail jam in his back yard, it was way too bloody hot all weekend to be riding so we found ourselves down the skatepark with a few eskys and a couple of brews while we waited for the heat to go away. by the time we got to Brett's yard i think most of the crew were way to pissed to ride so i think there was about 5 of us that had a session, the trails were running sweet for about 30 min then even tho we kept pumping the water onto them they started to fall apart so we ended up having a throw down session on Brett's ramp to dirt set up I do remember Brett throwing down a tyre grab to whip and Dre doing some of the loosest nothings on that thing, i ended up just doing a bunch of tricks which felt awesome cause i haven't really been looking in my trick bag much lately so it felt good to let it all hang out. afterward all the crew made our drunken way to the ski club and i'm pretty sure we had a good time i know i ended up sleeping on the roof of a 4wd for the night.. good times haha
Another weekend another trail jam this time we are out in elderado near Wangaratta for my little shredder Chris Henderson's yard jam, Chris is 15 and one of the Craziest kids i know he has some amazing moves on his stunt cycle and he loves to ride dirt and throw in the fact his younger brother rides and his family are the raddest means the jam was a family affair so there was a really good vibe there.
it was another scorcher of a day but there was a really good turn out with a bunch of young guys from the surrounding areas turning up. It was a pretty chill session just fun to ride dirt again. Chris was throwing down the bangers like only a 15 yo can haha, seriously he's like a energiser bunny in the end was a really good day
The next weekend was rampfest box jump comp. i know the video has already been posted so just go check that out
anyways thats what i have been up to these last few busy weeks. got a few more things coming up this coming week and weekend so i'll keep you all posted So now you've finished reading this go ride!
peace Cam Pianta

Well i havent been doing much downhilling lately since ive ben home mainly hanging with friends and chillin. I recently bought a S13 silvia from a friend who was in need of some cash and wasnt really drifting much due to uni commitments so ive filled the void in thrashing the silvia lately. I try to get out to the drift practice sessions as much as i can as ive always loved drifting and have been doing it for years. Fortunately i get my license back next year so i will be actually driving myself to the track and probly be handling and getting the feel of the car a little better. At the last drift session at queensland raceway we managed to get a few pics but unfortunately it was to dark, my mate nathan was there drifting his 09 VE holden ute on 22"s , off his head!
I was down the coast the weekend just gone for a downhill ride day at illinbah just north of canungra. The goldcoast mtb club provides shuttles, food and drink at these events and its just a good way to get some quality practice on a quality DH track aswell as catch up with mates you probly wouldnt see otherwise.
I hadnt been on my Dh bike much so it was sick to get back on the rig and go wild for a bit, the last section of the illinbah track is relatively steep wide open across cow paddocks and if your off the brakes its like mach 1, you dont want to come off here ha ha!
From there that afternoon we headed back to brisbane to a mates house(blackie) who had been building a few small dirt jumps in his backyard. It was a jump, thrash, beers, bbq session and just a laugh with all the boys there, i didnt have my dirt jump bike with me but managed to have a play on them on the DH rig. I was impressed with blackies efforts as hes built these jumps on the side of a hill and the dirts not the softest to dig, hats off mate!
Im home for a few weeks then i head to whistler canada for xmas with my wife claire, we then will be back in january to train and race before heading off in april for the 2010 world cup downhill season ahead.
Cheers

We caught up with Glenn Macdonald, Tye's race team manager who was still on a high after Tye's amazing performance at the NZ round of Super X.
“I am so pumped for Tye, it was a tough night for him, and he dug deep and stands on the podium once again at Super X in his debut series on the KTM 450 SX-F,” said Macdonald.
“All was going well heading into the Man-on-Man Challenge, but in an unfortunate blow, Tye wrenched his injured knee during a battle with Dan Reardon. Tye wasn’t able to finish the hot lap, and you could see the pain he was in from his body language as he rode from the circuit."
“With some serious strapping on his knee, which is already carrying a torn ACL, Tye confidently walked up to the line in the first of his four-six lap finals. With a fourth gate pick secured, Tye was able to take advantage of a top qualifying position, and blasted from the gates – we knew then it was going to be on!" said Macdonald.
Tye was just as pumped, and after such a blow to his knee, was happy to gain his 2nd podium for the year.
“I am so pumped to be on the podium again after my third at the Geelong round, and this time I was in second, which is awesome,” said Simmonds. “It’s such a good feeling, given the riders I am up against have so much more experience."
“I had my starts dialed and got awesome drive. Getting up the front, and in the mix early meant I didn’t have to battle so hard with my knee the way it was, I was able just to focus on my riding, and bring home a solid result."
“I want to thank my family and the Motorex KTM Racing Team plus all of my sponsors as well as Race Safe for strapping my knee, so I could get back out on the track. It’s a collective effort to get a podium result, and without all these people around supporting me I wouldn’t be able to concentrate 100 percent on my racing. I have one more round in two weeks time at Brisbane’s QSAC Stadium, that’s going to be a big event, and my preparation leading up to that round will be pretty much the same as every other round, and that’s as much bike time as possible.”
Congratulations Tye, we can't wait to see you go head to head with the best at the final round in Brisbane, on December 5.

Hey guys,
I have been back in australia for the past 3 days and have spent most of my time in the 36 degree heat (98 f) digging on the yard. over the past 6 months the jumps have got a floggin. all of the run ups are erroded and clapped out so its gonna take a lot of time and effort to get the yard back to good condition. but within the next 4 weeks she should be back up and running. its a lot of work when doing it all solo.. but the end result is well worth it. speaking of which, im a head back out and keep at it.. the jumps arent gonna dig em selves...see pic for the trick set slowly getting done.
Cheers

Heading into this round, Jay Marmont had a hold on the series lead, despite the devastating news mid season of his daughters passing. With only 2 rounds remaining, the pressure was really on the top guys to perform, and just to throw a spanner in the works, Pro Lites champion Matt Moss was stepping up to test his skills in the Opens after sealing the Lites class the previous week.
It is common knowledge that former world champ Chad Reed will always be a contender for the Win, but a handful riders showed they had the pace early in the Man on Man challenge, which really set for a firey finale in the Quad Challenge. The format was 4 x 5 lap races, with only a 5 minute break between each.
Unit athlete Tye Simmonds had a strong showing in the Man on Man races, but after an awkward fall on his knee after losing the front end, he was not expected to come back for the final. Medics advised he could risk much more damage if he raced on, but the youngster from Bourke commited to the finals, and has been striving hard all year to be on the podium.
This commitment payed off early, and in the first race came out 2nd from the race start, and chased Chad Reed all the way to the line. Reardon improved on his previous weeks horrific performance, with a strong 3rd. Unfortunately series leader Jay Marmont had a hard time on the soft rutted track and was no where to be seen with the front runners.
Race No. 2 flowed much the same way, and injured Simmonds secured another amazing 2nd place behind Reed. Once again Marmont had a hard time, and his series lead was fast slipping out of his hands. Matt Moss had a better start, and finished with a strong 3rd.
After the 3rd start, familiar names were running up front, but all the action was back with Mossy and Marmont, coming together and both going down. Reed was on fire again, taking the hole shot and running the lead all the way to the line. Reardon was back on form also, had a very strong start and secured 2nd for the 3rd race. Simmonds fought hard to ride through the pain of his knee injury, and came up with an incredible 4th.
In the final race, 1st and 2nd spots were all but secured, with Reed and Simmonds respetively. But mistakes could be made, and podiums could still be secured. Reed blew the start, and gave Reardon the hole shot, followed by Simmonds. This was the break both riders were looking for. Jay Marmont and Troy Carroll both went down very hard, holding up the field, and left Reed and Reardon fighting it out for 1st. Simmonds running in 3rd. Seemingly out of nowhere, Matt Moss flew past Simmonds, and seconds later Reardon, giving him a short run at chasing down Reed, but with only a 5 lap race, there was not enough time. So in race 4, we were left with Reed, Moss, Reardon and Simmonds taking out the top 4, and unfortunately Jay Marmont drops further out of contension with a DNF.
Overall, Reed takes the Win, giving him a strong lead for the series. Simmonds comes through with an amazing 2nd, riding with an injury cloud over his head. Reardon secures a very strong 3rd overall, which is a great turnaround from last weeks downer result. Jay Marmont ends up with a 14th overall, which must be a huge dissapointment considering his super strong and consistent performance all year. Jay still holds down 3rd in the overall series, Reardon regains 2nd and Reed gets the jump into the final round in Brisbane, but with rumors of numerous USA riders coming over the finale, it could be anyones!

Hey everyone,
At the moment I'm at the end of my tour in Europe for 2009, i broke my right hand in China 2 weeks ago at race of Champions so I'm seeing a specialist today to see what the damage is and if i can ride in 10 days in Prague at the Gladiator Games which might be dreaming, i struggle to hold a glass as is. Its a sad end to a good year so i can't winge too much, I've ridden about 45 shows in over 20 different countries this year and still have more in NZ in December, I'm defiantly looking forward to getting home.
Peace!

Hey, what up guys? I'm back home now in Australia, on the central coast. Just been hanging out, good to be back and have a brake from the American scene, and enjoy the beach life style. Right now I'm trying to ride my bike a bunch before the end of the week, unlucky for me that i'm getting knee surergy. I broke my ACL and the rest of my ligiments. It will keep me of the bike for for a while.
But oh well, it's part of the sport, not much you can do if you wanna ride a bike for a living. So hopefully my knee heels good, then get back on the bike soon, and put my head down and train up ready for the next year over in America.
Cheers

Hey everyone,
I'm back home on the Gold Coast now after riding the Narrogin Revheads comp over in WA, which was a great event, I just wish it wasn't so far away!
The set-up over there was sweet, with two 75ft ramps, a poppy 65ft ramp and a small dirt hit, as well as a wall ride which was my favorite part of the course.
Saturday came round and the wind didn't drop all day, so we had to wait untill night to hold the first round of qualifiers and the big air comp. Clinton Moore killed it in big air, throwing out a sweet 360 nac and getting the win. I followed Clint in a what I thought was a whip train after big air finished, but the crazy bastard pulled a 360 right in front of me! Scared the hell outa me, but looked bloody cool!
Believe it or not, we all rocked up Sunday and there was no wind! We got straight in the second qualifier, and the results from both the two runs were added up to get the starting position for the final.
I was stoked to qualify in forth, the first of the non-flippers. We got into the finals and I managed to pull my best run of the weekend, so I was happy and confident of keeping fourth place. The big dogs came out after me and it really could have gone to any one of them, but in the end Adelberg just pipped Sheeny for the win. Sheeny did throw a massive ruler flip in his run which was pretty impressive.
Fourth place was enough for me to lock up the Freerider MX rider of the year award, so it was a trip worth while! See a bunch of pics now over at the Freerider site.
Cheers Joe

Hi All,
All is going well with my broken femur. It's been 4 weeks since my op, and I'm starting to walk normal, instead of walking like an 80 year old man. I've been doing everything I can to be right to start racing again in January. I've started doing upper body weights and working out in the pool, so hopefully I won't lose too much fitness. My plans are to be back racing by the end of January. Right now I'm tossing up who I am going to ride for next season overseas. I've had a couple of offers and hoping to make my decision by the end of this week.
Good news! I've just been selected as a finalist for Junior Cyclist of the year. I'm up against two other talented mountain bike riders, so keep your fingers crossed for me. Here are the finalists and details: http://www.cycling.org.au/?page=35569&format=
Here is the first episode of "Team Tomac" http://www.vimeo.com/7143627 These videos are produced by Mitch Pierias and he will be following us throughout the national Series and Australian Champs. I'll post up more vids throughout this season.
Cheers Rhys

Already making a name for himself in NZ dirtbike racing, after being the first Australian to ever win the South Island Supercross Championship at Motueka (Jan 09), and placing second in the World Junior Motocross Championship at Taupo (Aug 09), Aussie rider Tye Simmonds is returning to the land of the long white cloud for round six of the Monster Energy Australasian Super X Championship at Waikato Stadium Hamilton this Saturday 21 November, with high hopes of podium success.
NZ fans will see a different Simmonds on track, as the 17 year old has put his junior years and Pro Lites (250cc) racing behind him to concentrates on the premier Pro Open class riding the KTM 450 SX-F with Motorex KTM Racing Team.
Commenting on his entry Simmonds said, “I currently sit fourth in the Pro Open Championship of Super X, which I’m really happy about considering I’m the youngest factory backed rider competing in the premier class. I’m competing against world class riders like Chad Reed, Jeremy McGrath, Daniel Reardon and Jay Marmont, so the pressure has been on from the start with a line up like this.
“My best result so far has been a third place podium, and I’m hoping that the fan base I have pulled over in NZ from competing so much over there will help get behind me for another podium. Crowd support is a real confidence booster - it takes away the anxiety at the start gate when all that is going through my head is race nerves due to the more experienced riders lined up beside me.
“My highlight for the Super X series so far has been two races. One at Geelong for round three, and one at Parramatta for round five, where I holeshot and led to the final stages of the race only to be pipped across the finish line by World Champ, Chad Reed. At Geelong Reed got me by half a bike length, but at Parramatta it was only .2 seconds, so the gap is closing, and I’m improving. Racing Reed lights a fire under me to want more, and I’ve been striving to get more at each round.
“I’ve had some killer holeshots in many races, and I’ve led many times up to the final stages of a race, but a combination of lack of bike fitness, and less experience than riders like Reed has seen me miss a few race wins. I’m not as bike fit as I usually am, because I tore my ACL at the start of the series, and I can’t go as hard as I usually would in training sessions.
“I have some great fans, and friends in NZ, and I’m coming over early to meet them at a Motorex KTM Race Team visit to Boyd Motorcycles at Hamilton on Friday 20 November between 6pm and 7pm. There will also be great give-aways, so hopefully locals come on down and say hi.”
Boyd Motorcycles is located at 403 Te Rapa Road, Hamilton. Organisers will be giving away tickets to Super X at Hamilton through competitions held on the night. For more details on the Motorex KTM team visit to Boyd Motorcycles call (NZ 07 838 1209).
The racing format for the Hamilton round of Super X is a Quad Challenge. Competitors will run off in two 10 lap heats positions 1-9 in each heat will progress direct to the final, while riders 10-20 will fight it out in a last chance qualifier for two more finals places. For the final, riders battle it out in a series of four, five lap races, with just five minutes between each race with points awarded for each race, and the accumulated points totalled to find a winner.

Gday, Cam here... So this past week and a bit here in Vegas has been awesome. the weather has been perfect, not much wind at all and overcast on a few of the days so we have had some awesome sessions in the backyard. the jumps stay wet for a good couple of hours instead of the 20 minutes they do during the summer.
I had a mate from Australia stop by Vegas for a few days and we shot some photos in the yard. This time of year the sunsets are amazing so we got some sweet background colours to our photos.
A few days ago i received my travel documents in the mail which means i can travel out of the country, so this Sunday i am headed back to Australia. i have some big plans for the yard so im going home and getting stuck into the shovel work and ready for my next Jam which will be held at the start of February or there abouts. im looking forward to getting home and seeing everyone. it should be a good time. and im looking forward to my next jam which will hopefully be bigger and better than the previous one.
Once im home im headed up to QLD to visit everyone at Unit and say gday to them. im looking forward to catching up and getting some summer time up in QLD.. other than that its going to be a busy time with lots of shovel work, but make sure you stay tuned for updates on how the yard is coming along in preparation for the jam. cheers. Cam.

Heading into round 5, Unit Team Rider Dan Reardon had the series lead, followed by Jay Marmont who was fighting through the terrible tragedy of his daughters passing, and former world champ Chad Reed, who most people assumed would be leading the series easily by this stage!
The format was 4 x 6 lap races in the final, each race the last 5 placed riders were knocked out, and the top group headed back to the gate with only a 2 minute gap between races. This format would see only the most consistent riders earn points, and some notable competitors were dropped early.
All the big guns made it past the first race, but in the 2nd spell we saw the series leader Dan Reardon dropped after a series of small mistakes, and outstanding performances from riders like Jay Marmont, who from last place fought back to the top 10, Robbie Marshall who earned his best result of the series and Tye Simmonds who battled hard after a rough start to just scrape into the top group.
The final race, saw the top 5 riders go head to head, with the exception of Reardon, we saw the rest of the top guys in there as well as a surprise in Jeremy McGrath, who realistically has not been carrying the speed of the top contenders until tonight! Reed had a strong start, and headed straight for the finish line, which left the battle for 2nd wide open. Simmonds and Marmont scrapped it out, with Marmonts race experience pushing him ahead to battle it out with McGrath. It look liked the 'J' plate had the position locked in, but Marmont offered a super strong push, and looked liked he was going to make the pass on the final whoops, before being beaten by a mere fraction of a second.
So after an amazing round, we had some surprising upsets, and it looks like Reed has got the Win he needs to really pressure that 1st place spot in the series. Marmont is still right up there, along with Tye Simmonds, but it seems Reardon may have a real fight on his hands for the overall Win!

Sup, so I'm leaving for Melbourne soon for the box jump comp at Rampfest on the 21st.The taupo tank jed mildon and I will be staying with our good pal Pedro and his son 10yr old Jaie who unit have just started flowing some product to for his amazing bmx skills, one to watch!!! The Freerider MX FMX Rider Of The Year Award is now Gold Coaster Joe Sheppard’s to lose after he extended his already sizeable lead to an almost unattainable 200 points by placing third at the Precise Scaffolding X-Kings comp in Mackay on the weekend.
Shep placed third behind Robbie Adelberg and Clinton Moore, but with his nearest rivals Rhys Hillier and Matt Lindores absent from the comp, the KX250F rider further stretched his lead, while fellow Queenslander Adam Bayard reaped the benefits of attending every competition (so far) in 2009 by jumping from fifth into second overall.
Sheppard can wrap up the title at the prestigious Valyside Narrogin RevHeads competition next weekend, as long as he gains a solid result at what promises to be the biggest competition of the year. After the RevHeads comp, riders can still greatly improve their 2009 result by heading to New Zealand for the Red Bull FMX Battle in Wanganui (lower North Island), an event that promises to be one of the higher-scoring events on the ROTY calendar.
MACKAY X-KINGS RESULTS (six-star event – two downies and $4000 to the winner) 1. Robbie Adelberg 150 2. Clint Moore 132 3. Joe Sheppard 120 4. Steve Sommerfeld 108 5. Dan O’Brien 96 6.
