As we mentioned earlier in the week, the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour will be a 6 stop series this year with the final locations released today!
Unfortunately for Australia we have missed on featuring one of the rounds, but the locations selection should all be EPIC and produce some truly amazing and ground breaking FMX. As well as the regular stops of the tour at Mexico City and Madrid (Spain), this year's series will also be held in the shadow of the Egyptian pyramids at Giza (Egypt), the world-famous Red Square and Kremlin in Moscow (Russia), return to the Battersea Power Station in London (England), where last year's finale was held, before heading to the Eternal City, Rome (Italy) for the final round.
Another big event for this year was going to be the Red Bull ranking session, where 26 riders were going to have the chance to battle it out for a spot on the tour. But non-stop bad weather in the Californian area has forced Red Bull to scrap the sessions and change the selection format slightly. Instead of only the top 4 from last years series going through automatically, now the top 6 ranked riders will fill the first spots and they include Nate Adams, Robbie Maddison, Eigo Sato, Mat Rebaud, Danni Torres and our very own Levi Sherwood. 6 specially selected riders from the original ranking session rundown will battle it out for 4 more regular spots on the tour, and finally there will be 2 wildcard entrants at each round. This is a bit dissapointing for all the guys lining up for their shot at FMX glory, but Red Bull were definitely on the right track, and I am sure next year we will get to see the full ranking session go down!
The final tour dates are as follows....
Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour 2010
Apr 16 – Mexico City, MEX
May 14 – Giza, EGY
Jun 26 – Moscow, RUS
Jul 22-23 – Madrid, ESP
Aug 14 – London, UK
Oct 1 – Rome, ITA

It seems the National Championship belt wasn't enough for Chris Kovarik, this weekend coming out with speed at Shepparton for round 2 of the National Championship Downhill series.
Chris and his Wife Claire were on fire all weekend in their respective Downhill categories, both taking wins! In his first run Chris was the only rider of the day to go under the 2 minute mark, and by astounding 5 seconds. In his second run, Chris managed to better his first run time by over 2 seconds and ended up a very comfortable 4 seconds ahead of his nearest competitor.
Chris' domination of the series so far is a testament to the Aussie Downhill legends enthusiasm and dedication to his sport.
In other great Unit team news from Shepparton, Caroline Buchanan has also continued a stellar run of victories, with a comfortable first place in the womens 4X. Caroline now holds a strong lead in the Aussie National 4X series.
Stay tuned each week for more results and updates from the Unit MTB team.
