Mat, who calls the Red Bull Compound his "Office", has been riding the FMX Park pretty much every day and started his practise as usual last thrusday with a few others and shape-dog Dane Herron.
All of a sudden something (we do not know any details yet) went terribly wrong during a big one handed Underflip and Rebeaud could not manage to get himself back into position to ride out of it.
Luckily Dane is trained in 1st aid and could stabilize Mat until the medical team arrived.
The crash was so hard & the injuries quite serious that he had to be flown to the Valencia hospital in quite a bad shape, but conscious.
After the first check-up the doctors decided that the 28 year old FMX Pro had to undergo an operation for his fractured arm and his squeezed lung.
Both operations went down smoothly and Mat already feels better and was able to talk on Sunday.
Once he is ready to fly, Rebeaud will leave the hospital in Valencia, California to fly back to Switzerland for further tests, rehab and recovery.
If everything goes forward like Mat has it in mind right now, he will be hopefully ready for the 3rd round of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Series in Madrid in summer.
We wish Mat a speedy recovery and hope to see him back on bike soon.
