Chris Kovarik Film Shoot

Tuesday 6 April 2010

We had an awesome day today, catching up with Unit athletes Chris Kovarik and Claire Buchar. The husband and wife duo are heading over to California on Thursday, to finalise their new bikes and equipment from team Chain Reaction Cycles, before putting in some serious training for the World Cup that begins in just a matter of weeks. Chris and Claire are coming off a very strong season in Australia, both finishing up Australian Champions in their respective classes! Which is an amazing achievement for a husband and wife. (Although Claire can't claim the title, as she isn't officially an Australian citizen...)

The weather held out for us today, and we managed a sweet film shoot with the couple at Gold Coast track Mt.Tamborine. We haven't got to see much of Chris in action, and we were blown away by his speed and skill on the bike, showing us why after 10 years, he is still a good bet for the podium at this years World Cup. Claire definitely wasn't to be out done, and we can safely say we have never seen a girl go so fast on a downhill bike! And if it wasn't for her long blonde hair flowing out of her helmet, she could easily be mistaken for Chris!

It was cool talking with the pair, and thanks to their determination and very hard work, they now have the amazing opportunity to travel the world together, working the dream job and on the same team! It is hard enough for any female downhill rider to get on a team at all, let alone with their hubby!

We wish Chris and Claire the very best of luck for this year's world cup! Make sure you all stay tuned to the Unit website, for some videos and other features of the couple, as well as updates on their World Cup results and news.
