Dane Searls Massive Trails Photos

So after 6 full days of working with machinery and alot of shovel work, Dane Searls and Schuie have got the foundation layed for the new massive dirt jumps. Pretty much Dane is headed off to Germany early next week for the 'Big In Bavaria' contest, and then once home he will be back up on the Gold Coast for a few more days on the shovel, and then with a bit of luck he will be flowing through the biggest BMX dirt jumps in the world.

The set has been locked in with the first jump being a 32ft right hip, followed by a 35ft booter trick jump. From there it gets really scary, with 50 and 60ft dirt hits straight down the hill. Above you can see Searlsy posing in front of the 50ft hit, and below the 60 footer gets finished off.

After nearly a year of planning, it was awesome to see the shape of the set this afternoon, and Searlsy is stoked with the way they are looking. Although a bit nervous, Dane is pumped to get to ride these things and you can't wipe the smile off his face whenever he stands back and looks down the run. Check out the photo below, of the enormous landing for the 3rd jump. That is the runway that leads straight to the 60 foot hit...

From here, Schuie will be helping out with building a big enough drop off to start the run, as well as hire a special bobcat to help compact the landings and get everything smooth. Once Dane comes back up early August, it will just take a few days of shaping and getting the whole set ridable before putting in the first ride. Stay tuned...
