Marshall wins XRay Speed & Style

Monday 13 September 2010

Northstar Yamaha and Unit rider Robbie Marshall has won the Speed & Style competition at Robbie Maddison’s Red Bull XRay in Picton, NSW on the weekend.

In his first freestyle comp since the 2006 King Of The Coast, Marshall beat Japan’s Taka Higashino and racer Dan McCoy for the prize. Fellow Unit rider Tye Simmonds finished the Speed & Style comp in fourth place.

“It was such a fun event,” Marshall says. “They reckon about 20,000 people turned up to watch, and the natural-terrain course was amazing to ride. Maddo did a great job of putting it together.”

Marshall came straight to the comp from Broken Hill, where he was filming as a stunt double for the new Mad Max movie due out in either 2011 or 2012.

The Red Bull XRay is an annual contest organised by Aussie legend Robbie Maddison, and sees the country's best racers pitted against the finest freestyle and freeriders around a natural-terrain course designed by Maddo himself. This year five Unit riders were invited, including Marshall, Simmonds, Matt Schubring, Kain Saul and Luke Arbon.
