Kiwi FMX revelation Levi Sherwood is rapidly gaining a reputation as one of the biggest stars in FMX after securing his first-ever X Games medal – a silver – in the FMX contest.
Sherwood, 18, went up against X Games legends Travis Pastrana, Nate Adams and Unit team-mate Mat Rebeaud in the final four, but didn’t get the pressure get to him, busting out the biggest tricks (including a Dead Body Flip and his new Super Indy to Heelclicker Flip) with his trademark back-breaking style.
However, it wasn’t enough to overcome favourite Travis Pastrana, who used the course to its full potential. TP Backflipped over berms and cracnked a Double Backflip in his final run to take the gold medal.
Rebeaud ended up fourth after under-rotating an Underflip and crashed hard.
“I’m so pumped to get my first X Games medal!” Levi told us afterward. “It’s definitely a dream come true and it took a while for it to sink in. Bring on London X-Fighters!”
Levi’s silver was one of eight medals Australasian athletes brought home from X Games 16.
