It’s been an absolutely huge month for Unit riders competing on the world stage, and we could fill our entire newsletter with stories of how much everyone has been killing it. Instead though, we’ll give it to you all in bullet points:
• Big Air BMXer Dane Searls put himself on the world map after winning the Big In Bavaria comp in Germany on July 10-11. Searls, who’s planning on conquering the world’s biggest dirt jumps in the near future, took home a massive $8000 Euro for his efforts at the rain-affected big air comp.
• Swiss legend Mat Rebeaud (pictured) made a perfect comeback from injury by finishing runner-up to Body Varialling Aussie FMX rider Robbie Maddison at the Madrid, Spain round of the 2010 Red Bull X-Fighters. Rebeaud looked as good as ever during the comp, and has put the rest of the field on notice for the final two rounds in London and Rome.
• Unit riders Jaie Toohey (Australia) and Nate Berkheimer (US) fair ripped up the Chicago BMX Open round of the 2010 Dew Tour. Toohey flew to a sixth outright result, with the Vegas-based Berkheimer a hair’s breadth behind him in seventh. 2008 Dew Tour champion Cam White crashed out of the finals, but still qualified for the remainder of the series.
• Sunny Coast racer Ford Dale used homeground advantage to good effect at the final round of the Rockstar Energy MX Nationals at Coolum, winning the event overall in the Pro Lites class, and finishing the series in third overall. Team Cool Air Kawasaki’s Scottish import Billy MacKenzie charged to a round win in the Pro Open class, and wrapped the series up in second overall behind three-peat champion Jay Marmont.
