Kain Saul's Just Warming Up!

Friday 9 April 2010

I only got the call from the Showtime boys a week before the Sydney Royal Easter Show asking me if i could do the first 10 days of it, as Mini's broken ankle wasnt strong enough to ride yet. It is my first time here and i am loving every minute of it. 20 thousand plus people watching every day and every night which makes an awsome crowd and they are really into it. In the words of the one and only Gary Ried.... THE MORE NOISE YOU MAKE THE BIGGER THESE GUYS ARE GOING TO GO.... haha with that many people watching and screaming for you it really does pump you up and make you ride alot better.

To top it off we get free meals for brekky, lunch and dinner, which are so good and even better that we dont have to pay for them so we save so much money.

Its my last day on Sunday as i need to get down to Jacko Strongs place to practice for a couple of days flipping this heavy big dog Harley into the pit, so i am ready and feeling comfortable for the first round of the Crusty Tour on the 17th of this month at Gosford.

Other than all that cool stuff thats been happening I've been working on some new tricks, that i can hopefully show you all when i get them down spot on.

Cheers, Kain...

Maddo Jumps the Corinth Canal

Friday 9 April 2010

There is no doubt that Robbie Maddison is the true modern day Evel Knievel. While other long distance jumpers struggle to push their limits, Robbie is turning heads and breaking records all around the world, from one of the worlds best freestyle riders, to the worlds best long distance jumper, Robbie is truly a jack of all trades when it comes to Motocross.

Unit and Robbie have a great history together, you may even remember seeing Robbie Maddison winning King Of The Coast many years ago, while wearing the very first Unit MX Jersey! Robbie may no longer be on the Unit Team, but we wish him the best of luck in all of his projects!

Robbie's latest crazy stunt came this week, as he jumped the Corinth Canal in Greece. Words can't describe how insane this looks! Check out some of the pics and Press Release below....

Australian stunt Motocrosser Robbie Maddison not only jumped over the 85-metre wide Corinth Canal at height of nearly 100 metres in Greece on Thursday, but he also had a bigger hurdle to overcome: fear.

CORINTH (Greece). Motocross Freestyle, with breathtaking tricks such as flips performed at heights of up to three storeys high, is one the worlds most dangerous sports. Robbie Maddison is one of the worlds best in FMX.

But that is not enough for the 28-year-old Australian. Maddison is always looking for even greater thrills and has completed a number of spectacular jumps that would have made pioneering stuntman Evel Knievel proud. In 2007 and 2008 Maddison set three world records for distance all the way to 107 metres (350 feet). In 2009 he celebrated New Years Eve in Las Vegas by jumping up 30 metres onto the Arc de Triomph in front of Paris Las Vegas and then descended off the monument to ground level. Last year pictures of him jumping the Tower Bridge over the Thames River with a backflip while the drawbridge was open went around the world.

Many Motocrossers have wanted to jump across the Corinth Canal, which was built in 1893. But the Australian was the first to succeed. He sped his Honda 500 up through a turn-filled approach past a pool, across a soccer pitch and past a chicken coop to a speed of 125 km/h. On Thurday morning he accelerated up a ramp over the canal some 80 metres below and landed safely on a mound set up on the other side of the canal. At his apogee Maddison was 95 metres above the canals surface.

Maddison said getting the approach right despite the constantly changing surfaces from grass to concrete to wood to asphalt again and then carpet was difficult enough but there was greater hurdle to the jump: Overcoming fear, thats always the hardest part, Maddison said. Maddo will travel straight from Greece to Mexico City for the season opener of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour. Maddison was second overall last year and aims to win the title this year.
