Our Kiwi bro Jed Mildon spent the weekend with the Red Bull crew in beautiful Queenstown, NZ, for the Roast It jam. From all accounts it was an amazing few days, and Jed ended up taking home the 'Best Trick' prize at the event. Jed hit us up with this little update about the good times...
Hey guys,
We started the week out last Sunday in Queenstown. We were lucky enough to meet up with Nathan Greenwood straight off the plane and from there the week was made! He hooked us up to stay in the Redbull house on the top of the hill looking over the town. May have helped a little having Hucker the new Redbull rider from America with TJ and I!
So there we were, a van, a roof and the most crazy beautiful place in the world! We decided early on in the week to venture to the Farm Jam to hang out with Brett Frew. Man what a awesome 24hours! We jammed the new jumps for 7 of those 24 hours, fished for trout for 6hours and hung out and slept the rest! The jumps are amazing! Thanks so much Brett!
We rode the week out at Gorge Rd with all the boys turning up from around the place! Saturday was the jam, Redbull Roast It! So much fun! So many lines! The video will show all! Congrats to Brandon, Anthony, TJ, Hucker, Kye, Harty, Manson and Jai for coming over and jamming with the Kiwi boys at home! Congrats to Brandon and George for winning best line! Congrats to Langbanger for taking the title! And thank you very much for voting me for Best Trick boys!
Off to Sydney today and Austria tomorow! Talk to you all soon guys,
Jed

This coming weekend will see the 2012 UNIT FARM JAM go down in the South Island of New Zealand. With a host of the world's best athletes converging on the beautiful Frew Farm, it is sure to be an incredible event!
See what the Frew Brothers have to say along with some photos of an early session on the freshly groomed trails with Hucker, TJ Ellis, Jed Mildon and Kelly McGarry...
The ideal way to test new jumps is to ride them. Then how do you test them to see if they are good enough to be ridden by pro riders? Get Jed Mildon, Hucker and TJ Ellis to come ride the Farm Jam course a week before Farm Jam.
This dirt and contest dominating trio made a trip to the Farm from Queenstown as they are there for Redbull Roast It at the famous Gorge Road dirt jumps in Queenstown. They wanted to find out what Farm Jam is all about, and do a spot of riding, relaxing, sightseeing and fishing and it came together on Tuesday, although we didnt catch any fish.
Instead of the 2000 strong crowd here to watch, our (Brett and Dan Frew) parents were the only spectators to witness the craziness and they sat in the sun, having a cold beer and enjoying what our collective hard work has been able to achieve over the years.

We had a 3 hour session on the jumps and the riding was incredible, throwing down and goofing off (Hucker), a lot of super high flips and 3 combos (Jed and TJ), lots of tech riding on the original hip line and lots of smiley faces (everyone). The only bad thing was that these guys won't be here for the Unit Farm Jam on 25th Feb and they were dissapointed, but at least they know what its all about...
All the guys have said they would like to return and ride our fun jumps in a quiet corner of a sheep farm in NZ.
So the jumps are in great condition, so much flow and speed, you can boost super high. They are truly ready for the huge number of AUS, USA and NZ riders ready to arrive for the Unit Farm Jam in just over a weeks time.

The FMX dirt has been thouroughly tested also, and the outcome has been awesome, the course this year is better than ever with that same, flowing trails type feeling Farm Jam Moto-X course.
So get ready for Unit Farm Jam 2012, the action kicking off with FMX at 1pm and throughout the day there will be NZ's finest, and 20+ visiting international riders to keep the crowd and riders very well entertained.
Stay tuned to the Unit site for more details, results and videos!

Our buddies at the Monster Energy Kawasaki Race Team in Australia have an amazing opportunity available right now for a new mechanic.
The succesful applicant for the job must have alot of experience working on motocross bikes. Preferably someone over the age of 20 and with a trade.

Billy Mackenzie has been with the Monster Energy Kawasaki team in Australia for longer than any other rider, and although he has scored many podium results, he is yet to secure the number 1 plate in Australia. A bit of a surprise considering Billy's impressive list of achievements before his move to Australia, which include wins in the World Championship Grand Prix.
After a few years of trying to find his feet in Australia after moving from Scotland, Billy seems to have finally found a good balance between racing and the Australian lifestyle he originally came looking for. We talk with Billy indepth about his form on the bike, and what he honestly thinks he can achieve in 2012.

THIS VIDEO IS DEDICATED TO THE GREAT DANE SEARLS. RIDE IN PEACE.
Josh Stead is a madman! During the final iconic session at Dane Searls' Giants Of Dirt BMX jumps, Dane invitied Josh to ride the jumps and join him as only the 2nd BMX rider to ever attempt the last massive 60ft jump.
Josh followed in Dane's footsteps, and on only his 3rd run of the jumps attempted the incredible!
Lucky to escape serious injury, Josh's courage shows the world what is possible on a bike while helping cement Dane's legacy in BMX history. May Dane's dream and sacrifice on the bike live on through up and coming riders forever.

Our favourite afro'd Kiwi Kelly McGarry has just released this cool video on Pink Bike, thanks to Jon TV. It takes you along for a bit of an NZ roadtrip and uncovers what life is like being an MTB rider in New Zealand.
Kelly is awesome.... yep!
Our Kiwi bro Jed Mildon hit us up with this rad blog about the first round of the NZ Dirt Series. Check out the cazy vid above...
Last weekend in Papamoa, New Zealand an event like no other went down in the woods of Summer Hill Bike Park! The day started out with a sunrise view of the whole Bay Of Plenty! What a view!? Even had trees blocking our view of Rena..
The Jam part of the day kicked off at 1pm with 2 heats of jams with the pack split in two! Off the 1st heat went with some cool stuff. We had Lang Bang and Lewis Jones killing it with awesome style, big combos and consistancy, which is always keys on days like this!
Heat two got off to a banging start with almost every rider in the heat bangin a nice run out 1st run! This opening up good time to better the 1st run and have a good shot at the finals! I dont fully remmber highlights from this heat because I was fighting for a spot in the final also lol.. but Josh De Rues opened my eyes to rising talent in NZ big time! STOKED.
So the Finals role round at 3pm (with some debate from me on the rest period between heats and finals). Thanks boys! haha.. There we are again...1st place battle is on! Langas carved up the field with consistancy like Neil Armstrong! Taking his 5th win in the NZDS not bad considering theres only been 6 rounds in history! Good on you bro! 2nd up was Hugh Wootherspoon whom threw down the biggest 26ft fronty i'd ever seen! And 3rd went to new comer Josh De Rues, Josh was barspin flipping, whip flipping, double whipping 26ft, trucking 26ft, backing the big dogs and been smooth and consistant all day with nuts and style off steel! Then BANG out from no where first run for the ginga ninga Alex Cranswick came a double backy on the 10ft smallest line last jump! He got it sweet 3rd go! man what a kid. Alex has alot of bike control and can do alot of tricks! Now with a double backy to his list Alex has commitment!
Now so you know i'm a let you in on my game plan lol.. Well it not just mine but more 'the dirt jumpers mentality'... That is, 'all or nothing' so basically make the final and go for gold.. That I do! The 2nd jump on the big line claimed my runs for the day though, I kept not spinning right off the lip for a double flip and kept under rotating them by about quarter spin only bringing 2 round out of 5. So I really just wanted my runs and I would have beaten my goals for the day, all good though the line is still there to get it done! May not be in a comp but could make a good part in my edit?!

We just found a cool highlight video from Cam White's Hillside Dirtjam, which went down over the weekend. This was made by someone in the crowd, but will give you a good idea of the level of riding!
TJ Ellis took home the prestigous 'King Of The Hill' title, while Unit BMX rider Jaie Toohey won the 'Best Trick' award with a backflip triple tailwhip! Canberra local Chris Harti won 'Best Style'.

Our friends at Racer X caught up with Unit USA motocross racer Kyle Chisholm, and put together this cool vid. Kyle is an incredibly humble and down to earth guy, so it is great to see him back in the mix and getting some love after a massive crash took him out for almost 12 months.
Check out the video HERE.
So far for 2012, Chiz has scored some solid results in the AMA Supercross season, making every main event and currently sitting in 13th overall. Check out a video we did with Kyle in 2010 about his injury, and long road of recovery.
We catch up with 4 x MX Nationals and 2011 Super X Champion Jay Marmont, to chat about his big change from the highly successful CDR Yamaha team to the emerging Monster Energy Kawasaki team in Australia.
Jay also chats about life as a father, the increased level of competition in Australia, and his thoughts on racing in the USA.
